Introduce yourself

I’m Shine Saha, a cosplayer from Mumbai. I recently won the ICC Qualifiers from Mumbai with my Jetfire cosplay which not only became a sensation in the country’s domestic cosplay scene but also received a lot of appreciation internationally, becoming #1 (cosplay) to trend on Reddit during its debut.

What character would you cosplay as if you win the ICC 2020?

I have a deep love for Transformers and mechs in general, with armoured cosplays being my favourite. I love to challenge myself with each cosplay and that’s why I picked Jetfire, who has a very eccentric structure with digitigrade joints. It took me around 4 months to make the cosplay. I designed and made the frame for him myself with steel stilts and PVC pipes & made the top armour with EVA foam freehand with custom patterns as per my measurements while staying true to making it movie accurate. I made the jet engines based on Pratt and Whitney J58 with an overall design based on the SR-71 Blackbird aircraft. I devoted an entire month to paint job and used 4 different techniques in painting to give him a rusty, worn down finish.

In the future, I plan to venture into other types of cosplays and explore different materials.

I would cosplay as Jetfire if I win ICC 2019. I believe it has been a very successful and highly appreciated cosplay and it deserves to be showcased at an international stage.

Why do you deserve to win the FAN FAVOURITE AWARD AT  ICC?

I deserve to win the Fan Favourite award at ICC because the love and recognition it has received are overwhelming. Its always beautiful to see something one has seen on-screen come to life, inspiring awe, while carrying forward the love for pop-culture its deep-rooted in. It’s the love and support from fellow pop-culture enthusiasts that drives me and I want to keep going, doing what I love, for the love of the fans, for the love of pop-culture, for the love of cosplay!
